Breaking: Trump Cuts Ties with UNHRC & UN Human Rights Council (See Highlights)

In a significant foreign policy shift, former U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from key United Nations bodies.

Key Highlights of Trump’s Executive Order:

  • Formal U.S. exit from UNHRC, which oversees global human rights records.
  • Termination of U.S. participation in UNRWA, the primary aid agency for Palestinian refugees.
  • A comprehensive review of U.S. financial contributions to the UN, citing alleged “anti-American bias.”
  • Possible reconsideration of U.S. involvement in UNESCO, an agency the country had previously rejoined under President Joe Biden.

White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf explained that the move was prompted by what Trump described as “unfair financial burdens” on the U.S. compared to other member nations.

“The United States has been shouldering a disproportionate financial load. It’s time for other nations to step up,” Trump stated.

The policy aligns with Trump’s long-standing “America First” stance, which previously led to U.S. withdrawals from:
✅ The Paris Climate Accord
✅ The World Health Organization (WHO)
✅ The Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA)

Trump’s decision has also drawn support from Israel, which has been critical of UNRWA, accusing it of having links to Hamas.

While some nations have expressed concern over the move, others see it as a step toward redefining global diplomacy.
