Daring Attack! Gunmen Ambush Vehicle, Kidnap Seven In Ondo

Suspected kidnappers have abducted at least seven passengers after ambushing a vehicle near the Ipele community along the Owo-Benin highway in Ondo State. According to reports obtained by ireporteronline on Tuesday, the victims were traveling from a South-South state to Akure, Ondo’s capital, when the attack occurred over the weekend.

While different figures have emerged regarding the exact number of those kidnapped, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed to Channels Television that seven individuals were indeed taken.

Odunlami assured the public that security forces have launched efforts to track down the assailants and rescue the victims.

Traditional Ruler Abducted in Edo State

In a separate incident, gunmen kidnapped His Royal Highness Friday Ehizojie, the traditional ruler of Udo-Eguare, in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.

Reports indicate that the monarch was abducted along a forest route between Ubiaja and Udo, where armed men ambushed him. Eyewitnesses claim the attackers shot a commercial motorcycle rider before seizing the traditional ruler and five others. However, one of the abductees reportedly escaped.

A source revealed that the kidnappers appeared to have specifically targeted the monarch, raising suspicions about the motive behind the attack.

Confirming the incident, Edo State Police Command spokesperson Moses Yamu stated that security forces have received reports of the abduction and are working to secure the monarch’s release.
