I’m Not The Only One” – Mr Ibu’s Widow Opens Up On Sale Of Late Actor’s Assets
The widow of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, Stella Maris Okafor, has denied allegations that she secretly sold her late husband’s properties and kept the proceeds for herself.
The clarification follows recent public discussions surrounding the late actor’s family’s financial situation after a young man claiming to be one of Mr Ibu’s children accused Stella of refusing to support him financially despite allegedly selling properties belonging to the deceased in Lagos, Enugu, and Asaba, Delta State.
Speaking during an interview with a content creator, Stella dismissed the allegations, insisting that the sale of the properties was conducted legally under a court order and with the consent of Mr Ibu’s two sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor.
According to her, all necessary documents relating to the transaction are available to support her claims, stressing that she did not act independently in the disposal of the properties.
“I have to show you this document. This is a court order. It wasn’t me alone. My husband’s two sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor, and I carried out the sale according to the court order. Every evidence is here. We sold the house. I am not the only one who sold the house,” she said.
Stella also disclosed that she currently earns a living through an online jewellery business, revealing that her late husband had initially discouraged her from pursuing the venture while she was actively involved in acting because they both worked in the film industry.
She further revealed that growing security concerns and mounting pressure have compelled her to leave her current residence, despite not originally intending to relocate.
