Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has declared that he has replicated the leadership model of Michael Okpara, the former premier of the Eastern Region, in Imo State. Speaking at the 2024 Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award in Abuja, Uzodimma highlighted how Okpara’s vision for economic transformation inspired his administration’s approach.

Governor Uzodimma emphasized that Okpara’s leadership had turned the Eastern Region into Africa’s fastest-growing economy, a feat he aims to mirror in Imo. He urged Nigerian leaders to adopt Okpara’s virtues of integrity, vision, and inclusivity to ensure the nation’s prosperity.

He also expressed disappointment that Okpara’s contributions have not been adequately recognized, though he praised the ongoing lecture series for preserving his legacy. Uzodimma called on leaders to prioritize selfless service and encouraged citizens to commit to the country’s development.
