I Pray It Never Happens Again” – Igbokwe Breaks Silence On Ladipo Market Attack
Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has recounted how he narrowly avoided an attack by a group of youths during a visit to the popular Ladipo Market in Lagos State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday when Igbokwe visited the market to purchase spare parts for his vehicle. While searching for the items, he said some individuals recognized him and began calling out his name and drawing attention to his presence.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Igbokwe explained that after completing his purchase and returning to his vehicle, more people gathered around him, with the crowd growing increasingly larger and more agitated.
Concerned that the situation could escalate, he decided to leave the area and sought refuge in a friend’s shop within the market. He disclosed that his friend immediately contacted the market leadership, who intervened to calm tensions and ensure his safety.
Following the intervention, Igbokwe emerged from hiding and observed a large crowd surrounding the area. Although several people were expressing their anger, he chose not to engage with them and instead quietly left the market in his vehicle.
The APC stalwart also dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he was physically assaulted, insisting that no such attack took place. He expressed hope that such an incident would not recur, stating that he remained calm throughout the ordeal and departed the market without confrontation.
“I later saw reports on Facebook claiming that I was beaten, but I was not beaten. I pray that it does not happen again. I know what to do,” he said.
