This exciting development was revealed by the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as conveyed by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, through the X platform on Monday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, during his recent visit to the headquarters of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation in Dalian, China, finalized discussions with the top management of the company regarding the procurement of new rolling stock for both the Blue and Red rail lines in Lagos.

Affirming his administration’s commitment to alleviating traffic congestion in Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of effective Traffic Management and Transportation, a core aspect of the THEMES+ Agenda.

Anticipating significant progress, the Governor announced that the new rolling stock is expected to arrive in Lagos by December of this year. The China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation assured Governor Sanwo-Olu that the additional rolling stock would be delivered by the end of the year.

According to Gawat’s post, Governor Sanwo-Olu confirmed that President Bola Tinubu is set to flag off the Red Line Rail project in the last week of February, aligning with the President’s expectations.

This imminent launch marks a crucial milestone in Lagos’ efforts to enhance its transportation infrastructure and underscores the commitment of the state government to address traffic challenges and creae a more efficient public transportation system.
