Supporters Demand Feeding Allowance As Peter Obi Fail To Show Up For Campaign Rally
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, disappointed his supporters in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, on Tuesday.
Obi and his running mate, Dr Datti Baba Ahmed, were expected to visit the state for the presidential campaign, which was set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Summit Conference Hotel in Damaturu.
Candidates for the LP in the states and their supporters waited for Obi to arrive at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu, but he did not arrive.
This irritated some supporters, prompting them to demand the promised feeding allowance from the party leaders.
Some of them called Obi’s move a cowardly act.
Hajiya Hauwa Bukar, the North East Coordinator for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, addressed the supporters, apologizing for their absence.
She stated that the relevant agencies did not issue Obi a landing permit for the use of the airport.
According to Bukar, the federal government has yet to officially open the International Cargo Airport.
She also stated that another date for the campaign would be set.
