IK Ogbonna Breaks Silence On Alleged Romance Scam

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has dismissed reports linking him to an alleged $75,000 romance scam and claims that he was being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the FBI.

According to reports circulating online, the actor was allegedly invited for questioning over the suspected fraud. However, Ogbonna has described the claims as false, malicious and completely without factual foundation.

In a statement shared via his Instagram story, the actor revealed that this was not the first time unknown individuals had created fake accounts using his name, image and identity to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

Ogbonna stressed that he has no involvement in internet fraud, romance scams or any form of fraudulent activity, adding that he has never authorised anyone to represent him online, request money from fans, or engage in private conversations while pretending to be him.

The actor further warned that all his official social media platforms carry verification badges, noting that any account claiming to be him without verification should be considered fake.

He also clarified that he does not operate secret, private or backup accounts for communicating with fans, urging members of the public to remain cautious and avoid sending money, gifts or investments to anyone posing as him online.

Ogbonna advised people to always verify information before sharing it and encouraged victims or potential victims to report impersonator accounts.

He expressed appreciation to fans who take time to confirm facts before believing or spreading online claims, saying such efforts would help reduce misinformation and protect people from falling victim to internet fraud.
