Makinde Reveals Next Step For Rescued Oyo Students, Teachers
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that the immediate priority of his administration is to reunite and rehabilitate pupils and teachers rescued after spending 56 days in captivity.
According to Ireporter Online, the governor said the victims would be provided with the necessary support to help them recover from the physical and emotional challenges experienced during their ordeal before fully reintegrating with their families and communities.
Makinde disclosed this in a statement shared on his official account on Friday, following the successful rescue of the victims who were abducted from Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The governor expressed relief over their safe return, describing the development as a welcome outcome after nearly two months in the custody of their abductors.
He stated that the government’s first step would be to ensure the rescued pupils and teachers are reunited with their loved ones while receiving adequate care to aid their recovery from the trauma of captivity.
“Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience,” Makinde said.
Although details of the rehabilitation process were not disclosed, the governor assured that the victims would receive the necessary assistance required to regain stability and move forward.
Makinde also commended the security agencies and other individuals involved in the rescue operation, praising their bravery, dedication and professionalism throughout the mission.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel who participated in the operation, particularly those who lost their lives, and offered condolences to their families.
“May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace, and may God comfort their families,” the governor added.
