NAF Airstrikes Wipe Out Terrorists, Destroy Borno Hideout

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that its Air Component under Operation Hadin Kai successfully carried out coordinated airstrikes against suspected terrorist hideouts in Borno State, destroying critical infrastructure and neutralising several insurgents.

According to Ireporter Online, the operation was conducted on Friday in Yaganari, located within the Gezuwa general area of Borno State, after intelligence reports indicated renewed terrorist activities and the establishment of operational bases by insurgents.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame. He explained that the military acted on credible intelligence suggesting that terrorist fighters had regrouped in the area.

Ejodame disclosed that extensive intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions were carried out to verify the reports before the air operation was approved. Following the confirmation of terrorist structures and logistics facilities, the Air Component launched a series of precision airstrikes on the identified targets.

The strikes, he said, resulted in the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the elimination of several fighters, further weakening the operational strength of insurgent groups operating in the North-East.

He added that the sustained aerial campaign has continued to restrict the movement of terrorist elements while significantly reducing their ability to regroup and launch fresh attacks.

Reacting to the successful mission, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, praised the personnel involved for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to the operation.

The Air Chief reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve to maintain aggressive air operations in close coordination with ground troops until terrorist groups are completely dismantled across the country.

He stressed that the military would continue deploying decisive air power alongside surface forces to track, disrupt and eliminate terrorist elements wherever they attempt to establish safe havens. Aneke also reiterated the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to consolidating the gains already achieved in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, noting that sustained joint military operations would continue to deny terrorists the opportunity to regroup, rebuild their logistics networks or pose further threats to communities.
