Recently, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Daniel Sokari-Pedro, PIC(+) MNI, supervising DIG in charge of the South-South Geopolitical Zone, and his entourage paid a friendly courtesy visit to Hon Abubakar Momoh, the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.

The visit, held at the federal secretariat in Abuja, aimed not only to congratulate the minister but also to establish a rapport and discuss collaborative measures for enhancing security in the Niger Delta Region.

During the meeting, DIG Sokari-Pedro expressed his congratulations to Minister Abubakar Momoh and highlighted the significance of familiarizing himself with the Niger Delta minister. Notably, Sokari-Pedro is presently the most senior police officer from the Niger Delta Region. The purpose of the visit extended beyond mere courtesy to encompass discussions on strategies for reinforcing security in the region.

The discussions between the two parties focused on strengthening the security apparatus in the Niger Delta Region. Minister Abubakar Momoh emphasized the need for synergy among all security agencies operating in the zone. He stressed the importance of a united effort to combat vandals and criminals in the area, recognizing that the turbulent Niger Delta has the potential to bring about significant positive changes for the entire country. The minister assured his commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and pledged support when necessary.

Acknowledging the substantial task ahead, Minister Abubakar Momoh expressed confidence in DIG Sokari-Pedro’s capacity to lead and improve the security architecture of the Niger Delta Region. The acknowledgment underscores the collaborative spirit and mutual understanding between the Ministry of Niger Delta Development and the Nigeria Police Force.
