According to Ireporter Online, the Federal Government has confirmed that 63 countries have approved the ambassadorial nominees appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while six postings are still awaiting approval from their respective host nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that countries including India and South Africa have already issued agréments confirming acceptance of Nigeria’s newly appointed envoys. The ministry explained that the approval signifies the formal acceptance of the diplomats as Nigeria’s official representatives in their countries of assignment.

It further stated that the 63 approvals are part of the 69 ambassadors nominated by President Tinubu, adding that several of the cleared envoys have already begun resuming duties in their host countries. The ministry also confirmed that the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, recently presented Letters of Credence to ambassadorial and high commissioner-designates to Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, and Egypt following confirmation of their acceptance.

According to the statement, the presentation of credentials followed the receipt of agrément from the respective countries, enabling the diplomats to formally assume their roles. The ministry expressed optimism that the remaining six countries will soon approve the pending appointments, paving the way for full deployment of Nigeria’s ambassadorial corps and further strengthening diplomatic relations.
