We Will Bring It Down” — Wike Orders Fresh Abuja Property Demolition
According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the demolition of buildings found on lands allegedly acquired through forged documents, warning that individuals involved in land grabbing activities within Abuja will face strict enforcement action.
The directive was issued on Tuesday during the flag-off ceremony of the construction of service carriageways along the Southern Parkway, linking Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya Way) to Ring Road II.
Wike stated that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had uncovered multiple cases of fraudulent land allocations, where developers allegedly used fake documents to begin construction on plots not legally assigned to them. He warned that such structures would not be spared, stressing that they would be brought down to restore order in the capital city.
The minister also expressed displeasure over the absence of the Acting Director of Development Control at the event, instructing the Head of Service to deliver a strong warning. He noted that continued negligence and poor attendance at official engagements could affect the official’s chances of securing a substantive appointment.
According to him, senior officials must demonstrate commitment to enforcement duties and ensure proper oversight of development activities across the territory.
Wike further directed the Department of Development Control to intensify monitoring and work closely with the Department of Lands to verify ownership records, insisting that any development found on illegally acquired land would be demolished.
He maintained that the administration would no longer tolerate forged documentation or illegal construction, adding that enforcement would continue until compliance is achieved across the FCT.
