Mal Musa Yashi’s Humanitarian Outreach: A Beacon Of Hope During Ramadan And Easter Celebrations

In his usual characteristics as a man of the people, for the people and by the people, Mal Musa Umar Yashi, the indefatigable Executive Director Humanitarian Affairs of the North East Development Commission, NEDC seems to spare no effort in reaching out to various people in need of humanitarian assistance across the region. This perhaps may have been informed by his burning desire to continue to serve the people in the best possible way and out of conviction as someone generally regarded as an all round kindhearted and compassionate leader with empathy for the less privileged in our country regardless of one’s tribal or religious identity complex

Another reason may largely by the current socio-economic situation in the country which has adversely affected the living condition of the people. Hence, his latest intervention did not come as surprise to many Nigerians who see him as a true and patriotic leader ever concerned about the welfare of his people.

And so in keeping with this philosophy, Mal Yashi was on the move again identifying with all deserving Nigerians, both the Muslims and Christians with his periodic palliative package.

He rolled out series of welfare package which came in handy for the Muslims observing the annual Ramadan fast as well as the Christians who are also observing the Good Friday and Easter celebrations. 

In the spirit of the Ramadan season, Mallam Musa Yashi, once again showed his mark and was on hand to do what he knows best; extending hands of support and assistance to needy people irrespective of where they come from.

The same gesture was also extended to non Muslims whose intervention coincided with this year’s Easter celebrations.

It was indeed a moment of joy for all the beneficiaries who openly expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the humanitarian gesture.

As the saying goes, “charity begins at home” and in line with this quote, the people of Bauchi State where Mal Yashi hails from, were the first to receive various welfare package meant to cushion the effect of the current hardship. It is instructive to note that no part of the State or people were left out of these largesse from those in Tafawa Balewa, Alkaleri, Dass, Bogoro, Toro, Bauchi, Dambam, Darazo and Gamawa. Other beneficiaries were those of Ganjuwa, Giade, Itas/Gadau, Jama’are, Katagum, Krifi, Misau, Ningi, Shira and Zaki.

Across all the Local Government Areas, it was celebration galore and jubilation as they individually received their palliative items including rice, sugar, spaghetti and groundnut oil.

Without any doubt, Mal Musa Yashi has carved a niche for himself as a beacon of hope, champion of the masses, a devote Muslim, God fearing and caring leader always willing and eager to change the lives of people for the better. 

He certainly cares much about his people by creating an enabling environment where everyone feels valued, supported and appreciated one way or the other and his humanitarian assistance knows no bound.

It was this posture and rare attribute that prompted him into extending hands of support and to also Christian faithfuls who are celebrating the Easter. 

During a recent visit to Bauchi, all I could hear from the people on the streets, were exaltations, praises and commendations for Mal Yashi’s continuos assistance to the people. Their prayer for him is for God’s guidance, protection and blessings as he continues to pilot affairs at the North East Development Commission NEDC.
