highlighted that many healthcare workers, especially doctors, are seeking opportunities abroad due to inadequate support and poor working conditions in Nigeria.

Speaking in Ibadan on Thursday, Dr. Adedapo emphasized the need for the government to take immediate action by providing benefits like car loans and improving the remuneration system for medical staff. He specifically appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure the timely disbursement of medical residency training funds to doctors working in the state, as well as the implementation of the adjusted consolidated medical salary scales introduced by the federal government.

“We need to make sure our doctors are comfortable, or else many will continue to leave,” Adedapo said, stressing that such efforts would play a critical role in retaining talented healthcare workers. He further proposed that soft car loans could also encourage doctors to stay and contribute to the healthcare system in Nigeria.

As part of the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare in Oyo State, Dr. Adedapo urged health workers and relevant stakeholders to collaborate more effectively, focusing on areas like manpower shortages, poor remuneration, and unstable power supply. He noted that the NMA will continue working closely with the state government to address these issues and achieve their collective healthcare goals in 2025.

Dr. Adedapo also acknowledged the resilience of health workers who continue to give their best despite the numerous challenges, ensuring that the healthcare system remains functional.
