NLC To MTN, Airtel, Glo: Reverse Tariff Hike Or Face Total Shutdown In March

In a communiqué released on Wednesday in Lokoja, Kogi State, NLC President Joe Ajaero and Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja demanded an immediate reversal of the tariff increase, insisting telecom companies revert to previous rates until deliberations conclude.

“All workers and citizens are urged to suspend purchasing data from these companies, as they continue to exploit Nigerian consumers. Should these companies fail to revert to old tariffs by February’s end, we will shut down their operations nationwide starting March 1,” the communiqué stated.

The NLC has also accused telecom companies of breaching trust by implementing the hike before a government committee’s review was finalized. They criticized the Federal Government for failing to shield citizens from corporate exploitation.
