The Federal Government has once again reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector as a pathway to national economic prosperity, ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking through the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Abubakar Kyari, at the groundbreaking of the Agribusiness Industrial Hubs in Atan-Ijaiye, Akinyele LGA of Oyo State, stated that the initiative would drastically curb post-harvest losses plaguing farmers across the country.

He emphasized that this move aligns squarely with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and signals a new era of strategic agricultural development.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, Shettima praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s bold strides in agricultural reform, commending the state’s alignment with federal goals to create jobs, industrialize rural communities, and foster inclusive growth.

“This is more than a project—it is a visionary collaboration between Nigeria’s federal government, the Oyo State government, and global development partners like the African Development Bank, IFAD, and the Islamic Development Bank,” he said.

“It’s a testament to our resolve to convert Nigeria’s vast agricultural wealth into economic assets.”

Governor Makinde, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s pledge to make agribusiness the cornerstone of Oyo State’s economy. He revealed that six existing farm settlements and three more at Ilora, Iresa Adu, and Ipapo have been marked for industrial expansion to benefit both state and national economies.

Former AfDB President and ex-Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, recalled conceptualizing the idea of agricultural industrial hubs during his tenure, expressing joy that the vision is now coming to life.

Dr. Debo Akande, Director General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), described the event as a historic milestone in the state’s agricultural journey.
