Osun 2026: Adeleke’s Aides, Accord Leaders Defect To APC

The defectors were formally received at the Ileri-Oluwa House in Osogbo, where they pledged their support for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Among those who joined the APC were the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Affairs, Moyoade Lukman, and the Senior Special Assistant in the Governor’s Office, Azeez Kazeem. Others include Accord Party House of Representatives aspirant for Ife Federal Constituency, Dr. Leye Olagbaju; Accord youth leader in Ife-Central Local Government, Asamo Gbenga; and Ojuolape Olagbaju.

The defectors attributed their decision to a loss of confidence in the ruling party’s prospects and expressed belief in Oyebamiji’s capacity to deliver development in Osun State.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Olagbaju said they would fully mobilize their political structures to support the APC candidate, insisting that Oyebamiji possesses the qualities of a prepared leader capable of winning the election.

Also speaking, Lukman said his return to the progressive fold followed lessons learned from his political experience.

Receiving the new members, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Wole Oke, assured them of equal opportunities within the party, stressing that the APC remained focused on securing victory in the forthcoming governorship election.

He further claimed that more aides of Governor Adeleke, including some commissioners, were preparing to defect to the party in due course.
