Akpabio Inaugurates Four New Senators Into The Senate

According to Ireporter Online, Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday administered the oath of office to four newly elected senators following the June 20 senatorial bye-elections, during plenary at the National Assembly.

The newly inaugurated lawmakers, who emerged victorious in their respective constituencies, include three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and one member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The swearing-in ceremony formally marked their entry into the upper legislative chamber.

The new senators are Dayo Faduyile (APC, Ondo South), Envulu Anza (APC, Nasarawa North), Ikeje Asogwu (APC, Enugu North), and Olaka Nwogu (PDP, Rivers South East).

Faduyile is occupying the seat previously held by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who was recently appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, while Asogwa, Nwogu, and Envulu-Anza replaced former senators whose seats became vacant following deaths at different periods within the year.

Meanwhile, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has clarified remarks he made regarding the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. In a statement released on Tuesday, Oshiomhole said his comments during an interview on AIT’s Politics Today were misrepresented.

He maintained that he did not allege any forgery of senators’ signatures, aligning his position with that of Senate spokesperson Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who stated that no lawmaker had formally raised such a complaint. Oshiomhole explained that his concern was limited to claims that attendance signatures of some senators were allegedly attached to a committee report.
