AGN Holds Night Of Tribute For Ada Ameh

It was an evening of mixed feelings as Nollywood actors, producers and well-wishers gathered at the Taslim Balogun stadium in Lagos to hold a night of tribute in honour of their late colleague, Ada Ameh.

Organised by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), attendees who were all dressed in white outfits, turned out amass despite the heavy downpour, sang, and danced, giving glory to God for her fulfilled life even though short.

Speaking at the event, National President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Emeka Rollas said, “Ada had a beautiful smile, a great sense of humour and a gentle demeanour. She was bright, logical and systematic in her thinking, always willing to share to make others happy.

“Many of us found her to be a splendid person of great intellect and big heart, she was a living proof of how fine a person can be a caring heart to her friends and colleagues, devoted to her career and loving to her family.”

Filmmaker Zeb Ejiro, who discovered the Late Ameh and gave her first role ‘Anita’ in his 1996 movie, Domitila, said, she would be greatly missed. “We are here to celebrate Ada my daughter, she came, saw and conquered and I am very proud of her.”

For Nollywood actor, director and comedian Charles Inojie, who has played husband to Late Ameh in popular TV series, The Johnsons, said, “Ada, we love you, you may have left us in The Johnsons but your persona can never leave that space. In this show, we live and breathe you every day.”

He also encouraged actors to speak up, talk to someone when they are in any kind of challenge, as it will go a long way in helping people deal with their issues as it pertains to wellbeing.

Head of the organising committee and Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, thanked people for showing up and donating to the success of the event.

“I want us to use this opportunity as we do this tribute for Ada to better ourselves as members of the AGN, we stick and come together more not only when someone is dead. Let us give flowers to ourselves when we are alive,” Henshaw said.

Other Nollywood actors present at the event were Kate Chinedu Ikedieze, Segun Arinze, Ken Eric, Grace Amah and Olumide Oworu.

The late Ameh who died on Sunday, July 17, 2022, will be laid to rest in her family hometown, Ogobia, Otukpo Local council of Benue State on August 26, 2022.
