Wike Reveals Tinubu’s Order On Abandoned Projects

President Bola Tinubu has directed that abandoned government projects should be completed alongside the execution of new ones, according to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

According to Ireporter Online, Wike disclosed this on Thursday during his monthly media briefing on national issues held in Abuja. He explained that the Tinubu administration is committed to ensuring that long-abandoned infrastructure projects are revived and completed rather than left to deteriorate while attention shifts entirely to new developments.

The FCT Minister revealed that a significant number of projects completed by the FCT Administration under his leadership were originally awarded between 15 and 16 years ago but had remained abandoned for years.

He noted that approximately 60 percent of the projects executed over the past three years fell into that category, stressing that neglecting them would have left major infrastructure gaps across the nation’s capital. Wike added that the administration prioritized completing previously abandoned contracts before embarking on fresh projects, revealing that over 70 percent of such inherited projects have now been completed.

He maintained that the government’s approach was necessary to prevent criticism over neglected infrastructure while also ensuring that new developmental projects continue across the FCT.

Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Government has dismissed reports alleging that Governor Francis Nwifuru threatened the FCT Minister during a recent political gathering in Abakaliki.

According to Ireporter Online, the state government described the reports as misleading, insisting that there was no attempt by Governor Nwifuru to issue any threat against Wike during the endorsement rally held for President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebeh, stated that the governor’s remarks had been deliberately misrepresented in an effort to create unnecessary tension between Nwifuru and Wike. He emphasized that the governor never made any statement that could be interpreted as a threat during the event at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium.
