Gbajabiamila’s Position Secure As Wike Rules Out PFIPC Removal

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports suggesting that Femi Gbajabiamila could be removed from his position as Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that there are no plans to sack him.

According to Ireporter Online, Wike made the clarification on Thursday during his monthly media briefing held in Abuja, where he addressed allegations linking Gbajabiamila to the controversy surrounding the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The FCT Minister stated that he knows the President’s Chief of Staff well and maintained that Gbajabiamila had no involvement in the matter. He also rejected calls from opposition figures for the suspension of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives over the allegations.

Wike described demands by opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for Gbajabiamila’s suspension as unnecessary, arguing that the calls were aimed at creating embarrassment for the Tinubu administration.

“I know the Chief of Staff very, very well. He did not. People are saying the Chief of Staff must be sacked. By whom? The opposition? Why not form a government, and then you can sack whoever you want to sack,” Wike stated.

The Minister’s comments came after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the purported PFIPC and other related issues.

According to Ireporter Online, the directive was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed that the investigation is expected to be completed within 30 days, with a detailed report submitted to the President.
