Fuel Relief: Dangote Begins Free Petrol Supply Across States
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced a free delivery programme for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, across six locations in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while maintaining its ex-depot price at ₦1,075 per litre.
According to reports, the refinery disclosed the development in a statement shared through its official account on Wednesday, noting that the initiative is aimed at reducing logistics expenses for eligible customers.
The company stated that the free delivery service covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Delta states, alongside the Federal Capital Territory. It added that customers purchasing a minimum of 250,000 litres of petrol are eligible to benefit from the offer.
The move comes shortly after Dangote Refinery engaged key stakeholders in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector to discuss cost-reflective pricing for petrol, with participants reportedly backing measures aimed at achieving further price reductions.
The refinery had recently announced another reduction in its gantry price, bringing the ex-depot cost of petrol down to ₦1,075 per litre. The latest delivery initiative is expected to help qualified buyers save on transportation and distribution costs.
Meanwhile, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, revealed that petrol prices have dropped by ₦125 per litre within the last three weeks.
Maigandi stated that pump prices currently range between ₦1,155 and ₦1,299 per litre, depending on location and the marketer involved.
The development comes amid ongoing adjustments in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, with stakeholders continuing discussions on petrol pricing, supply chains and measures to reduce the overall cost of fuel distribution across the country.
