2027: “It Would Be Wrong To Vote Against Tinubu — He’s Our In-Law” — Delta Gov
According to Ireporter Online, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has urged residents of the state to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing familial ties between the President and Delta State through First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The governor made the appeal during an interview on Arise Television, where he emphasized that President Tinubu maintains a unique connection to Delta State by virtue of his relationship with the First Lady, who hails from the state.
Oborevwori stated that many indigenes now view the President as part of their extended family and suggested that this relationship should influence political support in the forthcoming election. He further noted that the First Lady has played a role in strengthening the President’s political acceptance across various ethnic groups in the state, including the Itsekiri and Urhobo communities.
He was quoted as saying that among the leading political figures, President Tinubu stands out as having a direct affiliation with Delta State, adding that his “in-law” status should not be ignored by voters.
The governor also praised the administration’s economic reforms, insisting that ongoing federal policies have improved revenue inflows and enabled developmental projects across states. He argued that without such reforms, funding for state-level projects would have been significantly constrained.
His remarks come shortly after the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was conferred with the traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse of the Warri Kingdom by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, during a ceremony held in Warri, Delta State.
