A suspected logistics operative for the Boko Haram terrorist group has been apprehended in Maiduguri, Borno State, by troops of Operation Hadin Kai working in close collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.

The arrest took place around 11:50 a.m. on Monday at the Muna Garage axis along the Maiduguri-Dikwa road. Acting on actionable intelligence provided by local informants, the military intercepted the suspect, identified as Ahmadu Mohammed, who was allegedly attempting to smuggle fuel supplies to insurgents operating in the Sambisa Forest.

The suspect was reportedly caught disguising petrol in repurposed energy drink bottles concealed inside 12 large sacks, in a bid to avoid detection at the security checkpoint.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that Mohammed confessed to routinely transporting fuel and other essential supplies to insurgents not only within Sambisa Forest but also to areas surrounding Gamboru/Ngala, a strategic border town known for facilitating cross-border logistics for terrorist factions across the Lake Chad basin, including parts of Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.

Upon his arrest, several suspicious items were recovered from his possession, including charms, unidentified drugs, coloured rings, syringes, and various personal effects. Security operatives believe these items point to deeper links with the operational methods of terror cells in the region.

Military authorities confirmed that the arrest aligns with broader counter-insurgency efforts aimed at crippling the supply chains and financial arteries sustaining terrorist operations in Nigeria’s North-East. The suspect remains in military custody as investigations continue to uncover the full extent of his network and collaborators.
