Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, revealed this in a Sunday statement to ireporteronline.

Arrests and Seizures

  • Lagos (MMIA): Two suspects, Adakole Sunday and Austin Balogun, were apprehended on January 21, 2025. The seized shipment included six parcels of psychoactive “Loud,” weighing 3.5 kg. During questioning, Balogun confessed to receiving ₦700,000 for the deal, citing most of it as expenses for export logistics and accommodation.
  • Ikorodu Raid: NDLEA uncovered firearms, drugs, and skuchies (a mix of black currant, cannabis, and opioids). Seized items included:
    • Seven liters of skuchies
    • Firearms: locally made rifles, pistols, and ammunition
  • Mushin Operation: Officials confiscated 47 kg of skunk and 25.46 kg of nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) from the notorious Akala area on January 19.

Other Key Operations

  • Ekiti State: On January 23, operatives arrested Adepoju Taiwo, 26, with 1.95 kg of Canadian Loud along Ado-Ekiti’s Iworoko Road.
  • Kwara State: Auwal Sani was caught in Moro LGA transporting 50,000 tramadol pills (225mg), weighing 36.56 kg.
  • Kano State: A raid on Gadar Tamburawa led to the arrest of three suspects, including a Nigerien national. Recovered items included 13.1 kg of skunk and 125 liters of psychoactive “suck and die.” A cannabis farm in Dawakin Kudu was destroyed, with a suspect, Sabo Ali Muhammad, 45, linked to the plantation.

NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) continues with community engagements nationwide, targeting schools, workplaces, and traditional institutions.

  • Outreach locations include Army Children Secondary School (Oyo), St. Dominic Comprehensive College (Akwa Ibom), and District Junior College (Agege, Lagos).
