The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened applications for ad-hoc staff positions ahead of the 2025 Anambra State governorship election.

Ireporter Online gathered that the available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Technicians (RATECHs), and Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers.

The commission announced that its online recruitment portal, INECPRES, will be accessible to the public for three weeks, beginning Monday, September 15, and closing on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

For eligibility, INEC outlined that SPOs must be permanent staff of the Federal Public Service or State Civil Service within Grade Levels 10 to 14. POs and APOs may be serving corps members, recent NYSC graduates not more than four years post-service, INEC staff, or penultimate-year students of federal tertiary institutions. RAC Managers, on the other hand, must either be heads of institutions hosting RACs or qualified staff on Grade Level 07 and above, while RATECH positions are reserved strictly for INEC ICT staff.

The commission stressed that applicants must not be affiliated with any political party or openly support any candidate. It further stated that only residents of Anambra State are eligible to apply, except for RATECHs, who are INEC staff deployed for the exercise.

Applications are strictly online via the portal pres.inecnigeria.org, while mobile phone users can apply through presmobile.inecnigeria.org. INEC also released dedicated help desk numbers—Adeaze (09127675926), Bolaji (08059653879), and Rukayat (08039301522)—to provide support for applicants encountering challenges during the process.

INEC reiterated that recruiting credible ad-hoc staff is vital to ensuring free and fair polls, noting that the exercise is part of its efforts to strengthen democracy and make every vote count.
