Engineer Otunba Alatise Declares Bid For Awujale Throne, Promises Youth Empowerment And Prosperity
According to Ireporter Online, prominent community leader and engineer, Otunba Babatunde Alatise, has officially declared his interest in ascending the Awujale of Ijebuland throne. Alatise expressed his desire to bring inclusive leadership, economic empowerment, and sustainable development to Ijebuland if chosen as the next Awujale.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Bubiade Royal Family House, Alatise explained that his ambition to become Awujale stems from a deep passion for service, unity, and youth advancement. He pledged to create business opportunities, promote skill acquisition, and strengthen community-driven initiatives that will improve the lives of Ijebu people.
“My interest goes beyond peace and progress,” he stated. “I am determined to bring investments and business opportunities that will uplift the entire Ijebuland.”
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Alatise boasts a robust professional background in mining, agriculture, and property development. He is the head of several enterprises including Tuntise Investments, Yemlat Farms, and Tuntise Properties.
Alatise emphasized his plan to introduce policies that will compel companies operating within Ijebuland to sign community agreements supporting education, infrastructure, and social development projects. “If I am selected as Awujale, I will ensure that mining companies and other investors contribute directly to the growth and development of Ijebuland,” he affirmed.
Reacting to Alatise’s declaration, respected community elder Chief Rasheed Adenuga commended his leadership qualities and passion for youth empowerment. He described Alatise as a visionary leader with both traditional depth and modern administrative experience, capable of uniting the Ijebu people under purposeful leadership.
Similarly, Abdul Barry Bojela, the Oloriebi of the Bojela family, expressed confidence in Alatise’s candidacy, describing him as a capable and forward-thinking choice.
Supporters have continued to hail Alatise as a bridge between tradition and innovation, with ongoing consultations among royal families, elders, and youth groups in preparation for the Awujale succession process.
