Tinubu Administration Unveils New Provosts For Three Federal Agriculture Colleges

The appointments were endorsed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abba Kyari, following a merit-based selection process conducted by the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).

Under the new appointments, Dr. Folorunsho Rasheed Oloyede will head the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, while Dr. Salisu Salisu has been appointed Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture and Produce Technology, Kano. Dr. Umar Umar Abdullahi will serve as Provost of the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, Gombe State.

During the presentation of the appointment letters, the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Dabban, urged the newly appointed provosts to align their leadership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security vision by transforming their institutions into leading centres for agricultural education, research and innovation.

He encouraged the appointees to uphold professionalism, integrity and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities while implementing reforms aimed at improving governance, institutional efficiency and overall performance.

Dabban also stressed the need for the new provosts to strengthen research capacity, deepen collaboration with key stakeholders, improve staff welfare and contribute to the advancement of Nigeria’s National Agricultural Research System.

He expressed optimism that the appointments would reposition the institutions to play a more significant role in driving agricultural development, enhancing food security and supporting the country’s economic growth.
