The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has revealed that he recently held a cordial meeting with the Deputy National Women Leader of the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, where both parties discussed issues relating to national unity and the country’s future.

According to Ireporter Online, Yilwatda disclosed the meeting in a post shared on his account on Friday, stating that despite belonging to different political parties, they agreed that Nigeria’s peace, stability and development should remain a common objective for all political actors.

The APC chairman stressed that national interest must take precedence over partisan differences, adding that building a stronger and more prosperous country requires cooperation among patriotic Nigerians regardless of political affiliation.

Yilwatda also hinted that he intends to hold similar engagements with other opposition leaders as part of efforts to promote dialogue and strengthen national cohesion.

In a related development, the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the PDP recently announced that it had submitted the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The faction’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the submission was made manually in line with the Electoral Act 2026 after the group allegedly failed to receive the electronic submission codes from INEC. He maintained that the Turaki-led leadership remains the authentic leadership of the PDP and expressed confidence that ongoing legal proceedings would ultimately resolve the party’s leadership dispute in its favour.
