Lagos Police Announce Appointment Of New Spokesperson To Boost Transparency

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the assumption of duty of Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). Her appointment was endorsed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

Adebisi is an accomplished officer with a solid academic background. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. She further obtained a Master of Arts in English Language from the National Open University of Nigeria.

Over the course of her career, she has undertaken extensive professional training in child protection, human rights, psychology, and conflict management. She holds a certificate in Child Protection from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, Ghana, and also completed the Advanced Detective Course at the Police Staff College, Jos.

Adebisi is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and a member of several notable international professional bodies, including the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), the International Association of Women Police (IAWP), and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

Her past assignments include serving as Staff Officer to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, and as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit (SPU). Until her latest posting, she functioned as the Police Public Relations Liaison Officer at the SPU, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bababeyi Oluseyi, assured residents and the media of Adebisi’s commitment to deepening engagement between the command and the public. The statement also noted that her appointment reflects the vision of the Inspector-General of Police to enhance police-community relations across Lagos State.
