Nigeria Mourns ACP Fika, The Police Officer Who Risked It All In The War Against Boko Haram

ACP Dauda Buba Fika, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s battle against Boko Haram insurgents, has tragically passed away. Fika had played a crucial role as the commander of Mopol 41, leading several joint security operations that significantly weakened terrorist factions, including the liberation of his hometown, Fika, from insurgent control. His dedication to the fight against Boko Haram came at a personal cost, as he sustained gunshot wounds during an operation in Yobe in 2017, which required extensive medical treatment.

His death comes shortly after reports from the National Counter-Terrorism Centre revealed that over 5,000 former Boko Haram fighters had successfully completed a deradicalization program and reintegrated into society without returning to violence.

ACP Fika’s contributions to Nigeria’s fight against terrorism will be remembered as a significant part of the country’s ongoing struggle for peace in the northern region.
