Ondo APC Elders Vow 1.5 Million Votes To Secure Tinubu’s Victory

Some elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have pledged to mobilise eligible voters to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Speaking under the platform of the Ondo State APC Elders Movement, the leaders said they were determined to ensure that out of the 1.9 million registered voters in the state, at least 1.5 million would cast their ballots for Tinubu.
The Chairman of the movement, Senator Nimbe Farunkanmi, gave the assurance on Monday during a meeting in Akure, the state capital. The octogenarian explained that the group, comprising dedicated party elders committed to unity and progress, would work towards ensuring that 90 per cent of the votes in the state go to the President.
“This is the Elders’ Movement for Tinubu’s continuity in office. Similar meetings will be held across local governments, wards, and polling units to guarantee his re-election,” Farunkanmi said.
Also speaking, another leader of the group, Mr. Jamiu Ekungba, said the gathering was aimed at mobilising members and ensuring commitment-driven registration. He noted that the elders were already encouraging citizens to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ekungba recalled that the party had previously achieved impressive results in past elections and stressed that with proper mobilisation, the target of 1.5 million votes was attainable. He, however, lamented voter apathy, adding that the elders were determined to persuade residents to come out and vote massively for Tinubu.
“When we return that figure, nobody will question it because it will be genuine votes,” he assured.
In her remarks, the Ondo State representative in the National Population Commission, Mrs. Olukemi Iyantan, said focus had already shifted to the 2027 elections following the November 2024 governorship poll. She maintained that the unity and guidance of the elders would strengthen the party’s chances of re-electing President Tinubu.
