Pastor Kingsley Explains Why His Bible-Inspired Tattoo Is Part Of Evangelism
According to Ireporter Online, renowned relationship coach and presiding pastor of David Christian Centre, Kingsley Okonkwo, has defended his decision to tattoo a Bible verse on his arm, describing it as a bold and creative approach to spreading the Gospel.
The pastor recently unveiled a tattoo of John 3:16 written in Roman numerals — “III: XVI” — in a video shared on his official Instagram page on Saturday. The revelation, which coincided with his 50th birthday celebration, immediately sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms.
While some social media users and critics questioned the suitability of a tattoo for a Christian pastor, Okonkwo maintained that the move was intentional and impactful. He explained that the tattoo served as a powerful evangelistic tool, noting that it helped amplify the Gospel message to millions within a short period.
Reacting to the controversy in a statement on Sunday, the cleric said many critics focused on judging the tattoo itself rather than recognizing that the scripture it carried had been widely publicised online within 24 hours.
He further disclosed that a more detailed explanation would be provided during a church programme scheduled for Monday night. In the meantime, Okonkwo invited members and the public to attend his praise party and thanksgiving service on Sunday at the David Christian Centre locations on the mainland and island, promising a celebratory atmosphere filled with worship and fellowship.
Addressing the ongoing debate, the pastor urged followers to remain calm, adding that discussions around tattoos would be addressed fully after the weekend’s events.
