Refund My Presidential Nomination Fee” — DLA Aspirant Demands Payback From Party
According to Ireporter Online, a 2027 presidential aspirant of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Mrs Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju, has formally resigned from the party and demanded a refund of the fee she paid for the presidential nomination form.
In her resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Busari-Akinnadeju accused the DLA of failing to uphold internal democracy, alleging that the party did not conduct a free and fair primary election. She also expressed concern over the party’s reported move to adopt a consensus candidate, describing the development as unhealthy for the growth and credibility of the organisation.
She stated that her decision to step down was not driven by defeat but by what she described as an unfair and compromised process, insisting she would not associate her name with a system that disregards its own rules and guidelines.
The former aspirant further requested formal acknowledgement of her resignation, a refund of her presidential nomination fee, and the return of any personal documents or materials in the possession of the party or its officials.
While appreciating party members across the country for their support, she stressed that they were not responsible for her exit, adding that they deserved a better and more transparent leadership structure. Busari-Akinnadeju also reaffirmed her commitment to the 2027 presidential ambition and her “Dare Nigeria” agenda, stating that her resolve had been strengthened rather than weakened by recent events.
She noted that her initial investment in the party was based on the expectation of a credible platform ahead of the 2027 elections, but said recent internal developments had proven otherwise. She maintained that a party unable to conduct credible internal elections cannot convincingly guarantee fairness at the national level.
Busari-Akinnadeju hails from Akungba Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
