The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the formation of a National Campaign Council ahead of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

According to Ireporter Online, the council is chaired by Governor Uba Sani, while Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio serves as Vice Chairman. The body also comprises serving and former governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other key party stakeholders drawn from across the country.

The party further constituted several sub-committees to drive its campaign strategy, including Election Planning and Management, Finance and Resource Mobilisation, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation, Logistics and Campaign Management, Protocol, Media and Publicity, Security, Women’s Mobilisation, Youth Mobilisation, and Secretariat Functions.

Meanwhile, reports suggest growing tension within the APC as some aggrieved governors are allegedly plotting to remove the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Leadership, about five APC governors—drawn from the Southwest, Northcentral, and Southsouth regions—are reportedly involved in the move, with one Southwest governor allegedly spearheading the push to replace him following disputes over the conduct and outcomes of the party’s primaries.
