The Nigerian naira continued to trade against the United States dollar at varying rates across the foreign exchange market, with activity in the parallel market showing the dollar selling at ₦1,395 and buying at ₦1,380 as of June 4, 2026.

Market information obtained from Bureau De Change operators in Lagos indicated that the exchange rate remained largely stable within the unofficial foreign exchange market, where traders exchanged the greenback at the prevailing rates.

The development comes as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) maintains its position against transactions in the parallel market, emphasizing that it does not recognize the segment as an official channel for foreign exchange trading. The apex bank has consistently advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange services to conduct their transactions through authorized financial institutions and official banking channels.

Meanwhile, data from the official market showed that the dollar traded within a range of ₦1,356 to ₦1,361 according to CBN rates. The highest recorded rate stood at ₦1,361, while the lowest rate was ₦1,356.

Foreign exchange analysts noted that actual buying and selling prices may differ from published figures due to fluctuations in market conditions, location, demand, and supply dynamics at the time of transactions.
