Rivers State: Governor Fubara Names Five New Special Advisers

According to Ireporter Online, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of five individuals as Special Advisers, a move that further reshapes his administrative team following recent adjustments within the state cabinet.

The appointments come shortly after a minor cabinet reshuffle that led to the redeployment of the Commissioner for Sports, Barrister Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice, where he now serves as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. Despite the change, officials clarified that Green will continue to supervise the Ministry of Sports pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner.

Among the newly appointed advisers are Professor Peter Medee, who previously served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, a former Commissioner for Works. Both officials were impacted by the recent Supreme Court ruling that upheld Martin Amaewhule as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The appointments were announced through a Government Special Announcement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo. The statement confirmed that Governor Fubara had approved the appointments of Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Professor Peter Medee, Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro, and Dr Darlington Oji as Special Advisers.

The statement further disclosed that the newly appointed advisers are scheduled to be sworn in at noon on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt, with all appointees expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m.
