South-East Must Break Free From Isolation, Says Ganduje — Promises APC Takeover In Anambra
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called on South-East states to align with the central government by embracing the ruling APC.
Ganduje made this statement in Awka, Anambra State, during the inauguration of the newly acquired and furnished state party secretariat, sponsored by two APC governorship aspirants—Mr. Paul Chukwuma and Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.……READ MORE
During the event, governorship hopefuls Chukwuma, Okonkwo, Nicholas Ukachukwu, Chukwuma Umeoji, and Johnbosco Onunkwo pledged their commitment to securing the Anambra governorship seat for the APC in the November 8 election if selected as the party’s flag bearer.
Addressing party members, Ganduje praised the Igbo people as Nigeria’s most nationalistic tribe, emphasizing the importance of connecting with the central government to reap the full benefits of national development.
“We are here to inaugurate this party secretariat and engage with stakeholders to strategize for the future. You all know where we are headed—the Government House,” Ganduje stated.
“We must stay focused, with clear plans and vision. The APC in Anambra understands this. South-East has five states, and we hope to see even more, but you must first strive to connect to the center. Politically, you are still operating under rural electrification—relying on generators. This is unacceptable. You need to plug into the national grid,” he added.
Highlighting the widespread presence of Igbos across Nigeria as a testament to their nationalistic spirit, Ganduje questioned why the region would isolate itself politically.
“We want to take you back to the unity of the past—the days of Ojukwu’s return after pardon and Nnamdi Azikiwe’s leadership. I am committed to this mission, starting with Anambra,” he assured.
Ganduje also expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, citing ongoing reforms and improvements in security, oil production, refinery operations, and currency stabilization as proof of his effectiveness.
“Tinubu is a leader who fixes what’s broken. He speaks with facts, not empty words. He’s steering Nigeria toward progress, and the South-East must be part of this journey,” Ganduje asserted.
Meanwhile, the party’s governorship aspirants showcased their support by mobilizing large crowds. Chukwuma and Okonkwo stood out, vowing to secure victory for the APC if given the ticket.
Chukwuma declared, “We are here to take Anambra and connect it to the center. Today marks the beginning of APC’s victory in Anambra. Our national chairman has promised this connection, and we trust him. While I appreciate my fellow aspirants, I am the candidate who will deliver victory for the party.”
Okonkwo added, “The APC in Anambra has evolved, and I will lead the strongest campaign to elect an APC governor. Give me the ticket, and I will hand you the Certificate of Occupancy for the Anambra Government House.”
