No ID, No Salary! Nigerian Govt Issues Stern Warning To Civil Servants Over Verification
In a bid to eliminate ghost workers, the Nigerian government has mandated all federal civil servants to complete identity verification by February 17, 2025.
This directive, outlined in a memo from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) and obtained by Ireporteronline on Saturday, requires civil servants to verify their identities through the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) portal.……READ MORE
Failure to comply could lead to salary suspension and other penalties for those flagged as ghost workers.
For successful verification, employees must provide their Tax Identification Number (TIN), IPPIS number, and salary account details.
The memo stated:
“Following the Treasury Circular Ref. No. TRY/A6&B6/2024-OAGF/CAD/026/Vol. V/910 dated June 27, 2024, and an extension granted on August 16, 2024, the Accountant-General has approved a final one-week extension for the OAF-IPPIS Payroll Validation Portal from February 10–17, 2025.
Employees who missed the previous deadline must visit www.oagf.gov.ng to complete their validation before midnight on February 17, 2025. Those who fail to comply risk being removed from the payroll.”
The memo further instructed Accounting Officers, Directors/Heads of Finance & Accounts, and Internal Audit Units across MDAs and other government arms to ensure widespread dissemination and strict adherence to the directive.
This comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s 2024 directive mandating that civil servants drawing federal salaries while residing abroad must refund the funds. The President also called for disciplinary actions against supervisors and department heads complicit in facilitating such fraud.
