Tinubu Honors Legacy Of Late Former FCT Minister, Jeremiah Useni

President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, expressed his condolences to the government and people of Plateau State over the passing of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lieutenant-General Jeremiah Useni (retd.), who died on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 82, after a prolonged illness…READ MORE…

Through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Useni’s distinguished military career and his contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape. He described the late elder statesman as a courageous leader who inspired younger officers to prioritize national interests over personal gains.

Tinubu acknowledged Useni’s service as former Governor of old Bendel State, Minister of Transport, and Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army. He also highlighted Useni’s political roles as Deputy National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party and Senator representing Plateau South.

The President prayed for God’s comfort for the family and eternal rest for Useni’s soul.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State also paid tribute, describing Useni as a monumental loss to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and the nation. He commended his steadfast commitment to service and noted his enduring legacy in Nigeria’s security and political spheres.

Useni transitioned into politics after retiring from the military, serving as Deputy Chairman of the ANPP and later as a Senator under the PDP. Mutfwang extended condolences on behalf of the Plateau State government and its people, honoring Useni’s lifetime of dedication and service.
