Vice President Shettima Heads To Côte D’Ivoire To Represent President Tinubu At Ouattara’s Inauguration

According to Ireporter Online, Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday evening for Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of President Alassane Ouattara for a fourth term in office.

Shettima announced his trip on his social media page, noting that he would join leaders from across Africa and beyond to witness the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan. Ouattara secured his fourth term following the October 25, 2025 elections, maintaining Côte d’Ivoire’s longstanding diplomatic ties with Nigeria.

In a separate engagement, the Vice President reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s dedication to preserving and protecting traditional institutions in Nigeria. Speaking during the 45th anniversary of the Emir of Gumel, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Sani II, and the commissioning of the Gumel Central Mosque in Jigawa State, Shettima emphasized that traditional rulers remain the closest link to the grassroots, outlasting the tenure of political office holders.

“Every elective office ends after eight years, but traditional institutions endure. Therefore, we must respect, protect, and preserve them,” Shettima stated. He also congratulated the Emir of Gumel on his 45th anniversary and prayed for his longevity to witness future milestones, including his golden jubilee and centenary celebrations.
