Ahmed Audi Steps Down As NSCDC Commandant-General

The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, officially retired on Friday after reaching the mandatory retirement age and completing his tenure. His final day in office coincided with events marking the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, where he was honored by colleagues and senior officers.

According to reports, Audi assumed office on March 1, 2021, following his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari. His retirement concludes nearly five years of leadership at the helm of the paramilitary agency, responsible for safeguarding critical national infrastructure, disaster management, and civil defence operations.

As of this report, the Federal Government has not yet announced a successor. Audi’s departure during World Civil Defence Day highlighted his years of service and the agency’s role in national safety and emergency response.
