The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a mock accreditation exercise for February 4th.

The purpose of the exercise, according to the Commission, is to put the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to the test ahead of the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of INEC, announced this on Friday during a meeting with all 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners in the country.

The machines used for the mock exercise, he says, will be reconfigured in preparation for the main elections.

Yakubu, who called the meeting with the resident commissioners critical, is using it to inform the commissioners about all of the preparations the Commission has made for the exercise.

He also mentioned that the Meeting should look into the ongoing distribution of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

He assured that the Commission will not hesitate to take additional steps to ensure that everyone who registered receives their PVCs.
