Hunters Capture Longest Alligator In State History
A group of Mississippi hunters has achieved a remarkable feat by capturing the longest alligator ever recorded in the state, measuring a staggering 14 feet and 3 inches in length and weighing slightly over 800 pounds.
The successful hunters, consisting of Tanner White, Don Woods, Will Thomas, and Joey Clark, all associated with Red Antler Processing, a game processing and hunting store, joined forces to secure this colossal gator.
This achievement was proudly shared on August 26 via a Facebook post by the company.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks officially confirmed this extraordinary feat through a social media announcement, acknowledging that the 14-foot behemoth had broken the state record for the “longest alligator harvested.”
This remarkable reptile was captured within the West Central Alligator Hunting Zone, as reported by the department. The gator’s astounding dimensions included a belly girth of 66 inches and a tail girth of 46.5 inches, adding to the awe of this incredible discovery.
Mississippi is home to a substantial alligator population, as detailed on the wildlife department’s website. The state has allowed alligator hunting for sport since 2005, with distinct regulations applying to hunting in public and private waters.
In 2021, there were a total of 776 alligators captured in Mississippi, according to the most recent available data. However, the average length of these captured gators was just under 8 feet, making the Red Antler Processing team’s record-breaking capture nearly double the size of the typical alligator found in the state.
