Aminu Mohammed, Yauba Musa, Abubakar Mohammed, Halima Musa, and Amira Sani, all from Gerio Village, Yola, are facing charges that include criminal conspiracy, trespass, intimidation, theft, causing grievous hurt, and possession of stolen property.

The charges stem from an incident where the defendants, armed with knives, cutlasses, and baskets, allegedly trespassed into the Gerio River Fish Basin, stealing various quantities of roasted and fresh fish belonging to different business owners in the community. As they attempted to escape, a security guard was beaten and injured.

The stolen fish were later found in the possession of two of the defendants during a police investigation. The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate Awamem Fwa, ordered their remand in prison until February 7 for further police investigation.

The prosecutor argued against granting bail, citing the ongoing investigation and the potential risk of jeopardizing the process. The case adds a unique twist to criminal proceedings, involving a ‘fishy’ situation that caught the attention of local authorities in Adamawa.
