the Sokoto State Accountant General, provided this assurance in response to concerns raised by some retirees who have yet to receive their payment alerts after completing the screening process.
Tambuwal explained, “The committee typically authorizes the release of funds to beneficiaries once the screening process is completed.”
However, he noted that some retirees, particularly those living in remote areas outside the state capital, may face delays in receiving their payment notifications.
He clarified that the payment delays reported by a few beneficiaries were not due to any fault of the committee, but rather due to technical issues with the financial institutions responsible for processing the payments electronically.
In a statement on Sunday, Sirajo Gada, the information officer of the Ministry of Finance, relayed Tambuwal’s comments, assuring that the committee, under his leadership, is working diligently with the affected banks to expedite the pending payments.
Tambuwal also urged retirees to remain patient, reassuring them that the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu is fully committed to clearing the backlog of gratuities owed to retired civil servants in the state.
