Nation-Building Isn’t Tinubu’s Burden Alone — Dangote
According to Ireporter Online, Africa’s richest businessman, Aliko Dangote, has stated that the responsibility of building Nigeria should not rest solely on President Bola Tinubu, stressing the need for collective effort from citizens and corporate organisations in driving national development.
Dangote made the remarks at a book launch ceremony held in celebration of the 80th birthday of businessman and philanthropist, Chief Khamis Olatunde Badmus. He emphasized that nation-building requires unity, shared responsibility, and consistent prayers for leaders to succeed.
He further noted that, “Nigerians must believe in our country, have real unity, and ensure that nation-building is not done by Mr President alone but by all of us collectively. We must always pray for our leaders so they can succeed, because when they do, it will benefit everyone.”
The billionaire businessman also announced a donation of N100 million during the event and described Badmus as a disciplined entrepreneur who has successfully balanced faith and business over the years. He encouraged young entrepreneurs and students to learn from the celebrant’s example, describing him as a model of integrity and perseverance.
Dangote added that his long-standing admiration for Badmus even motivated him to travel hours to attend the celebration, praying for his continued good health and longevity.
In a message attributed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, delivered by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Badmus was praised for consistently involving God in his endeavors, which was credited for his success. He was also advised to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including regular sleep, daily exercise, and moderate eating habits.
Governor Adeleke described the celebrant as a great asset to Osun State, the Yoruba nation, Nigeria, and Africa at large.
Similarly, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, offered prayers for long life and commended Badmus as a role model for young people, urging them to emulate his discipline, hard work, and dedication.
