2027: Opposition Already Lost The Battle Against Tinubu — Jibrin Fires

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Jibrin argued that the opposition would have posed a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress if they had formed a strong coalition similar to the alliance that brought Tinubu’s camp to power in 2015.

The former federal legislator maintained that the increasing number of opposition contenders would only split votes among themselves, while the President’s support base remains solid and unaffected.

Jibrin stated that the only scenario capable of causing concern within the APC would have been a united opposition movement that replicated the political strategy deployed in 2015, when various political interests and influential leaders rallied together to secure victory.

According to him, the current divisions among opposition figures have instead strengthened Tinubu’s chances ahead of the next presidential election, stressing that none of the opposition candidates would significantly reduce the President’s expected voter strength.

He further expressed confidence that even if opposition parties eventually unite, Tinubu would still emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential contest.
