Breaking: 17,952 Junior Police Officers Promoted As IGP Gives Approval

According to Ireporter Online, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior officers across different ranks within the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen personnel welfare and improve operational efficiency nationwide.

The promotion exercise, which spans all Commands and Formations across the country, includes the elevation of 165 Sergeants to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals to Sergeants, and 17,714 Constables to Corporals.

The IGP noted that the exercise reflects the Force’s commitment to rewarding dedication, professionalism, and hard work, while also reinforcing its human resource strategy aimed at boosting morale and encouraging officers to remain committed to their constitutional duties.

He further emphasized that timely promotion remains a key motivational tool and an essential part of career development within the Force, adding that the current leadership is focused on merit, institutional growth, and career progression.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to see their elevation as a call to higher responsibility, discipline, and improved service delivery.

He charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, including professionalism, respect for human rights, integrity, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

The police leadership reaffirmed its commitment to promoting excellence, rewarding diligence, and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global standards of policing.
